kairos 4tet

kairos 4tetIt's the band that you have all waiting to hear…last year
Kairos 4tet
(Kairos is an ancient Greek word meaning the
right or opportune moment) was unable to perform at the
last minute due to surgery that had to be performed on
saxophonist Adam Walmann's shoulder. Now he and his band
are fully fit and raring to go.

Under Adam's leadership, Kairos 4tet has found a
melodious medium between traditional Jazz and the forward
facing nature that typifies so much young British Jazz.
The band's compositions are open and accessible, but there's
no compromise when it comes to intuitive, intelligent playing
and adventurous arrangements.

The band plays distinctive arrangements composed by Adam – described by Time Out as “a young master in the making” and a “precociously talented composer and player” by All About Jazz.

Kairos 4tet, which won the MOBO award for Best Jazz Act and came second in MOJO's magazine's 2011 Jazz Albums of the Year, following its second CD Statement of Intent, has been touring extensively and featured at the 2012 London Jazz Festival. It is currently working on its third album +1, which is due for release in spring 2013.

This upcoming recording will be the latest document of the journey of a band that is intent on telling its own story. Listeners are drawn to Kairos 4tet's music – be it jazz-heads, students or simply open-minded music lovers - in search
of something different and distinctive.

The full line-up of the band is:

Adam Waldmann (tenor/soprano saxophone)
Ivo Neame (piano/keyboards)
Jasper Hoiby (bass)
Jon Scott (drums)
